More Is Revealed About the Plot of Hangover Part III in Today's Hot Trailer

Posted on 2013-12-04 by reelz

"Hey, fat stuff. Quick give me some sugar."

It looks like the Wolfpack is on the hunt for Mr. Chow in the third installment of the Hangover franchise. In the newest trailer for The Hangover Part III, we get a chance to see the chain of events that take the guys back to Vegas, and we're awfully glad it's not just another bachelor party. The trailer also reveals why this will be the final installment of the series. The saga must come to an end because they can't all be friends anymore, due to the fact that when they're together "bad things happen and people get hurt." Sounds like the Wolfpack we know and love.

Top 10 Best Gary Oldman Movies

Posted on 2013-12-03 by BrentJS

"I take no pleasure in taking a life if it's from a person who doesn't care about it."

Though we may never get to see Gary Oldman play Commissioner Gordon again now that Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy has ended — that is, unless the recent rumor that Warner Bros. is planning to use the Justice League movie as "a vehicle for Christian Bale to reprise his role as Batman" is true, in which case a cameo by Gotham’s top cop wouldn’t be out of the question — we will get to see him play a former police commissioner in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Add his stint as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies and his recently completed work as Norton in MGM's Robocop remake and that makes four major tentpole franchises for Oldman.

Long before Oldman became a staple of summer popcorn movies, he had already developed a strong cult following for playing deliciously dark (Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula), terrifyingly sadistic (Warden Glenn in Murder in the First) and mesmerizingly maniacal (Norman Stansfield in Léon: The Professional) villains. The man once dubbed "psycho deluxe" for his over-the-top bad guy roles plays the hero more often than not these days, but when he funnels the same energy and intensity into quieter performances they simmer, as in his Oscar-winning role as disgraced spy George Smiley in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Punk rocker, vampire, drug dealer, corrupt cop, good cop, shapeshifting wizard, spy — Oldman masterfully played each character with zeal, but which roles were his best?

Um, The Trailer for Generation Um... Starring Keanu Reeves is Online

Posted on 2013-12-03 by Ryan

"Is that a camera?"

Keanu Reeves' last big studio release was 2008's The Day the Earth Stood Still, with the actor preferring to keep to his roots and act in smaller, indie movies in the interim. Of course, there's also the upcoming samurai movie 47 Ronin which was originally supposed to come out last year but has been delayed not once, but twice. Fear not, however, Reeves' fans, as the actor has another indie drama arriving with Generation Um..., whose first trailer has arrived online.

As Reeves himself explains in his introduction to the trailer, Generation Um... follows the lives of three New York City friends (Reeves, Silent Hill: Revelation's Adelaide Clemens and Devil's Bojana Novakovic) during a 24-hour period and, apparently, things get intense after Reeves steals a camera and starts recording their conversations.

Giants Aren't Afraid to Fall in New Jack the Giant Slayer Trailer

Posted on 2013-12-02 by Ryan

"Do these giants have any weaknesses?"

The summer of 2012 would have been a different season at the movies if it weren't for all the studio delays, some of which will finally be released over the next few months. For instance, June would have seen the release of both Jack the Giant Slayer and G.I Joe: Retaliation, both of which are now opening in March. For Jack the Giant Slayer, it meant that it wouldn't have to follow Snow White and the Huntsman — another fairy tale reinvention — something that appealed to director Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns).

"I got involved with this before the fairy tale craze really kicked in," Singer told Yahoo! UK. "My initial interest was in realising a simple fairytale, the least reality-based one with beanstalks and giants in the sky, and trying to do it in a realistic sort of way."

Tonight's Double-0 MovieMovie: Octopussy Starring Roger Moore

Posted on 2013-12-02 by BrentJS

"Double-0 Seven on an island populated exclusively by women? We won't see him till dawn!"

Thirty years ago, moviegoers were treated to not one, but two new James Bond movies in theaters: the non-canon Never Say Never Again starring Sean Connery, and tonight's feature, Octopussy, starring Roger Moore. Moore managed to best Connery at the box office battle of the Bonds that year, but the debate over which actor was the better Bond will never end for those who grew up watching their movies in the '60s, '70s and '80s.

Octopussy borrows its name and title character from a short story by James Bond creator Ian Fleming, but the plot is original. When MI6 agent 009 (Andy Bradford) is found dead at the British embassy in East Berlin dressed as a circus clown, 007 (Moore) is dispatched to investigate. The trail leads Bond to Octopussy (Maud Adams), a wealthy woman who leads a cult and operates a circus troupe that has been smuggling priceless Russian artifacts to the West for an Afghan prince named Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan). Smuggling artifacts is one thing, but what the troupe is really smuggling is a nuclear weapon that a Soviet general (Steven Berkoff) plans on detonating at the U.S. Air Force base in West Germany in the hopes that the resulting devastation will prompt Europe to seek disarmament and leave its borders open to Soviet invasion.

Fabergé eggs, killer clowns, and an Octopus Cult! Tune in tonight at 8:00pm ET/ 5:00pm PT for Octopussy and then check the ReelzChannel schedule because we're playing 007 movies all month long!

QuickClick: ILM Reveals the Visual Effects of The Avengers

Posted on 2013-12-01 by Ryan

Considering the huge success of last year's The Avengers, there are probably few out there who are unfamiliar with Marvel's comic book adaptation, which assembled all of Marvel's individual, cinematic superheroes onto one team. However, what most people probably haven't seen is how effects company Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) created the Academy Award–nominated visual effects of the movie, including the creation of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and the computer-generated New York City that Iron Man (Robery Downey Jr.) flies around in at the start of the movie.

In order to reveal the company's visual effects work (and celebrate the Oscar nod), ILM has released an Avengers reel online. "This reel represents a small fraction of the work created by over 200 ILM artists, scientists, and engineers backed up by a world class production team," said the company of their reel, which transitions from computer sketches to behind-the-scenes shots of the production to the final product.

"Hey, bring down the bone saw."

District 9 director Neill Blokamp is back with a new movie, and it's no surprise that it's a sci-fi flick full of social commentary. Starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, Elysium will be headed to theaters in late summer, and from the looks of this first trailer, it will be full of action, drama, and examples of human nature at its worst. Still, Elysium looks like a great place to live, and we totally want to get our hands on the Versace cancer-eliminating pod thing. It's the perfect statement piece for any living room.

Teaser Trailer for The Bling Ring Starring Emma Watson

Dumbledore can't be happy about this.

Emma Watson's post-Harry Potter career got off to a solid start with last year's critically-acclaimed teen drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Now Watson seems determined to break the Hermione-mold with her latest movie, The Bling Ring. Based on the real-life activities of some fame-obsessed teens known as the "Bling Ring" or the "Hollywood Hills Burglars", who broke into the homes of celebrities like Orlando Bloom, Rachel Bilson and Paris Hilton (who is reportedly making a cameo in the movie) for over a year before being brought to justice.

Never-bond_med

Tonight's Double-0 MovieMovie: Never Say Never Again Starring Sean Connery

Posted on 2013-11-02 by Ryan

"Well, you did say you'd catch me later."

After 1971's Diamonds Are Forever, Sean Connery proclaimed that he would "never" play James Bond again, and yet, 12 years later, Connery would be back for 1983's Never Say Never Again, a title suggested by Connery's wife, Micheline. At 52, Connery played an aging Bond in Never Say Never Again, who is reactivated by MI6 in order to track down two stolen nuclear weapons.

Essentially a remake of 1965's Thunderball, Never Say Never Again is not considered "canon" as it was not produced by Eon Productions, the company that was responsible for all the other Bond movies. However, James Bond creator Ian Fleming had originally conceived of Thunderball as a screenplay, co-written with screenwriter Jack Whittingham and writer-director Kevin McClory. When Fleming later went on to write Thunderball as a novel, Whittingham and McClory were not credited, but after taking Fleming to court, McClory was allowed to obtain rights to the original Thunderball screenplay. Thus, Warner Bros. was allowed to release its first and only James Bond movie, Never Say Never Again.

Catch this "non-canon" Connery classic tonight at 11pm ET/ 8pm PT. Get plenty of British super-spy action all through the month on Reelz as we air 007 all month long.

The Evolution of James Bond's Campiness [Bar Graph]

Posted on 2013-11-02 by Mandy

In the beginning, James Bond started out as a super suave British spy with brains, charm, and a knack for finding creative ways to get out of a tight spot. Over time the character has evolved (and sometimes devolved) and on occasion the over-the-top silliness of the movies can undercut 007's daring and wit.

With Skyfall being released on DVD and Blu-ray this week and Reelz airing Bond movies all month long, we thought now would be a great time to chart 007’s camp factor through the ages. We’ve picked one Bond flick from every decade to represent that era’s Bond to see how the different Bonds stack up cheese-wise.

Top 10 Best Rogue Cop Movies

"Nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot!"

It's exciting to watch TV shows and movies where the police officers doggedly pursue every lead and put together a by-the-book, airtight case to bring the bad guys to justice. But, it's often far more thrilling to watch the exploits of cops who toss the book out the window and go rogue in pursuit of justice. Tom Cruise is currently taking matters into his own hands as the title character in Jack Reacher and it looks like Steven Seagal — whose career was launched playing rogue cops — will be doing things his own way in the new season of True Justice. What we want to know is which movie has the best rogue cop. Turn on your police scanner, grab a donut and help us choose the movie cops who make going rogue look good.

Today's Hot Trailer: Jackie Robinson Biopic 42 Steps Up to the Plate

Posted on 2013-11-01 by Ryan

"You will remember me."

It seems to be a little early to think about baseball season, but March 31's opening day will be here before you know it, and only a few two weeks later, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 will open in theaters. The first trailer for the biopic debuted in September, and focused on introducing a general overview of the legendary baseball player's life and looked destined to quickly become a classic. The latest trailer is equally impressive as it digs deeper into the racial tension that Robinson (played by Chadwick Boseman) experienced while becoming the first African American ballplayer in the major leagues, which included taking abuse from his own teammates.
