...the picture's general stupidity, careless direction and reliance on a single-joke premise that was never really funny to begin with are only the most obvious of its problems.

There are a few funny moments in Jack and Jill, most of them celebrity cameos that also serve to affirm what a cool, connected celebrity Mr. Sandler is. The most sustained of these is the appearance of Al Pacino as himself, falling for Jill and giving the film a jolt of genuine zaniness. I'm sorry to say that this may be Mr. Pacino's most convincing performance in years.

...Sandler's lipsticked tomfoolery - and inability to share the screen with genuinely funny women - feels particularly regressive and stale.

...a comedy that has one good joke, four strange cameos and a spirit so juvenile kids may wonder what Sandler's deal is.

If the result is a movie that seems like a much slicker, more condensed, and speedier version of the Sandler comedies that have guaranteed his grandkids' retirement, count it as a blessing that it's over quickly. Not without pain, but quickly.

...a total bust, a stupefyingly unfunny and shamelessly lazy farce packed with cringe-worthy jokes and overt product placement.

Katie Holmes Joins Jack and Jill; Steve Carell Hunts for A Boyfriend for My Wife
Posted on 2010-08-27 by RyanKatie Holmes is out to do another comedy after 2008's Mad Money, joining forces with Adam Sandler for his latest project. THR reports that Holmes has been cast in Jack and Jill, a movie which sees Sandler playing both a twin brother and a sister during an awkward Thanksgiving visit.
Holmes will play Sandler's wife, with Al Pacino playing himself. Dennis Dugan (Grown Ups) will direct the movie from a script by Steve Koren (Click).
Theatrical Trailer for Jack and Jill Starring Adam Sandler and Adam Sandler
Posted on 2011-07-08 by RyanAdam Sandler has worked with a variety of co-stars over the years, but his latest co-star might be his greatest challenge, himself.
Jack and Jill is not an adaptation of the nursery rhyme, but instead stars Sandler as twins, playing both Jack, a family man, and his obnoxious sister Jill, who comes out to Los Angeles from the Bronx during Thanksgiving. A new theatrical trailer for the movie has just been released, likely to coincide with the release of The Zookeeper, which Sandler produced.
The movie's cast is filled with Sandler regulars like Allen Covert and Dan Patrick as well as Sandler-movie newcomers like Katie Holmes, who will play Sandler's wife, and Al Pacino, who will play himself.
Four Preview Clips From Jack and Jill Starring Adam Sandler and Adam Sandler
Posted on 2011-11-07 by RyanThere's something comforting about the consistency of Adam Sandler movies. Chances are Sandler will probably do a silly voice, some of Sandler's Saturday Night Live buddies will show up (Rob Schneider, mostly), and, most important to the studio, the movie will make an obscene amount of money.
There's no telling how Sandler's latest, Jack and Jill, will perform at the box office until it opens on Friday, but the other prerequisites seem to be in order. While Schneider is nowhere to be found, SNL alumni Tim Meadows, David Spade, Dana Carvey, and Norm MacDonald appear in the movie and Sandler does a silly voice as Jill, the obnoxious twin sister of family man Jack (also played by Sandler).
Knowing pretty much what you're gonna get can be a good thing, though Sandler movies do have a rather hit or miss quality. Four new preview clips have arrive online for Jack and Jill, which will help audiences figure out where Jack and Jill is a hit, like Happy Gilmore, or a miss, like Little Nicky.

After seeing Adam Sandler's new movie Jack and Jill, film critic Alonso Duralde concludes that Sandler is the new Tyler Perry. "Grotesquely caricatured, over-the-top drag? Check. Schmaltzy, comedy-killing homilies about the importance of family? Check. Loud, stupid scatological humor that makes the latest Harold & Kumar movie look like Moliere? Check. Patronizing digs at atheists? Check."
